Designing for our aging population is one of my greatest joys in the interior design industry. Being able to provide a dignified place to live for this easily forgotten group of adults brings me an emense sence of pride. The new dining hall at the Nazareth House of LA was no exception. Our team of architects, designers and engineers took what was once a neglected stage and gymnasium and turned it into an elegant, ergonomic and thoughtful dining center.
As with many designers, I empathize entirely with people who don't love the physical aspects of their work environment. When the administration staff at Nazareth House Senior Living saw our work for their resident they also wanted our team to address their aging offices and conference room. The name of the game on this quick renovation was lighting. By paying close attention to the new lighting selections we were able to make existing cabinetry look new again.
What was once a large screened in patio received its last makeover back in the early nineties. Our team was tasked with turning this "catch all" room into a sophisticated Parisian-inspired bistro and coffee bar. With a light and bright color pallet we tuned what was once a forgotten space into a central hub for residents to connect and guest or family members to enjoy.
With the coastline of Key West, Florida as our inspiration Young + Co. was tasked with providing a complete interior design package for the Navy. This included all finish specifications in addition to a "Best Value Determination" between three vendors for fixtures, furniture and equipment throughout the building. With a custom reception desk and several furniture pieces our team worked to capture the flair of the Keys through a tropical color pallet.
Nestled in the foothills of Poway California, this contract winning concept for a 6-bedroom hospice facility focuses on a "patient-first" design philosophy. Blending seamlessly are the requirements of a medical facility with the aesthetic of a country home. Warm rich colors blend a mix of traditional and modern furnishings to create a peaceful escape for residents, their families and care providers. Complete with a family living and dining area, meditation prayer room, and lush peaceful outdoor gardens this home provides both patients and their families with the care they need during their most vulnerable times.
